I couldn’t be more excited to announce that my first song ever is releasing Friday, July 24th, 2020! That’s right, I wrote and created an actual song from start to finish! It’s been a long time coming, and the song is very near and dear to me. It’s titled Memories and it’s dedicated, and inspired by my Dad.
My creativity in singing/songwriting was always there, it just lay dormant for many years. My new song is no surprise to me, but may be for many. Let me explain….
I’ve been writing lyrics since I was little. If my parents got in a fight or something was making me sad I’d go to my “little room”, sit on the floor, cry, and write lyrics.
It was my way of expressing myself…I would make myself feel better through song. It was my therapy and came naturally to me.
I’ve been singing my entire life. Karaoke every birthday party kinda girl. I had formal training when I was 10 when I was part of an extracurricular honors chorus, and since then every year after. My vocal chords became my instrument. I was in an a cappella group in high school and later in college I took singing and voice classes for credit mastering my ability to sing solo.
⠀When I moved to NYC I hired a private voice teacher and continued my training. The past couple of years I stopped singing, because I “gave up” so to speak. Recently, during this quarantine due to the corona-virus I found my passion again, but this time it was different.
I was compelled to bring to life the song I wrote about my Dad, who has been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease for more than a decade now. My dad contracted COVID-19 and I thought it was only a matter of days before things would take a turn for the worst.
He has recovered, and a song came out of the experience! Don’t forget to pre-save and share my song!!! xoxo
