Here’s a little bit about the music video for my single “No Pasa Nada” and my inspiration behind it.
My Inspiration
The global pandemic has changed our lives in so many ways right? The pandemic has hit different countries in different ways and timelines. Therefore, I’m only able to speak of my personal experience.
Last year in 2020 I was in complete lockdown unable to see friends, and family. I was stressed had high anxiety, and was totally freaked out about a lot (no need to go into all the details). Over the summer I managed to get to the beach safely, and it was then that I wrote the song “No Pasa Nada”, while sitting on a beach chair, tanning, and remembering the better days.
My Daydream
While sitting on the beach alone in my beach chair I was daydreaming about when we could all have fun again. To a certain extent we were all craving a good time. We all wanted our “normal” pre-pandemic lives back. But, we can’t go back in time. We have to move forward and nothing will ever be the same. Our new normal has changed, and we must adapt and change with our circumstances for better or worse.
Deep inside us there’s an urge to socialize, because as humans we are social creatures. As the complete anti-pandemic I created the “No Pasa Nada” single and music video, which is all about forgetting your worries and having fun in paradise!
“No Pasa Nada” is all about being worry free, having a good time, and partying in my ideal location…the beach! It’s what I would daydream about when I was in lockdown, but in this case my dream came true when I actually filmed the music video!
Latina Roots & Multicultural Background
It’s my first latin-pop song, and my first song that I sing in Spanish. Produced and engineered by TropiTrip a Miami based Columbian duo, and filmed in Cancun, Mexico. I felt it important to collaborate and connect with the latin community to bring my vision to life. I thought Cancun would be the perfect location to capture my “dream”, of crystal blue water, and pure paradise. Once again trying to stay true to the authenticity of my Latina roots.
My hope is that everyone can have their own release while listening to my song ‘No Pasa Nada’. When you want to get away, have fun, if you need a break take a listen to my song “No Pasa Nada” to transport you to your daydream.
‘No Pasa Nada’ Definition
“No Pasa Nada” literally translates to “nothing happens” and most closely correlates with “Don’t worry about it” or “It doesn’t matter.” However, unlike those two phrases in English, no pasa nada is never said sarcastically or ironically. It truly means that there’s no problem and the other person should brush it off.
Themes
Continuing with this idea, the song and music video is a care-free summer anthem filled with all the elements of a good time including a yacht, jet-ski, eclectic drinks, dancing, and more. I wanted to portray a quintessential party in paradise. Something we’ve all been missing since the year in quarantine and social distancing. In addition, I wanted to stay consistent with my core values and tie in the theme of female empowerment with my lyrics and visuals. In the music video I’m portraying a confident woman who is shameless, knows what she wants, and embraces her femininity and sexuality. I hope you enjoy it!
