Here’s a little bit about the music video for my single “Touch Me” and my inspiration behind it.
100+ pole classes in 18 weeks and the result? A pole dancing music video for my song Touch Me and killer abs. I’ve never been stronger in my life, physically and mentally.
When I was writing the song Touch Me, I started to brainstorm interesting and cool music video ideas. Pole dancing was always top of mind. The lyrics “I’m spinning circles for you” is a reference to dancing on a pole. The promo photoshoot for my single, which was released for Valentine’s Day this year, I dressed up in pole dancing attire as a teaser to what was to come. Incorporating a pole dancing routine for the music video was always part of the plan, I just didn’t think it would take almost 5 months to train for it.
I didn’t expect pole dancing to be as challenging as it was. I assumed I could take a few classes and be able to shoot a music video in a month. Boy was I wrong. I quickly realized there are no shortcuts and I had to put in the time and a lot of work! I visualized the sorts of moves I wanted to be able to do and was determined to reach a certain level to achieve my vision for the video.
I installed an X-pole home pole in my house right in the living room of my parents house. Luckily my mom was cool with it. I trained taking virtual and in-studio classes with a local pole studio Pole Pressure, and hired global pole champion Crystal Belcher as my choreographer. Little by little I started noticing my improvements.
Pole dancing has taught me so much. It has made me more confident, improved my self-esteem, and taught me that with hard work anything is possible you just have to give yourself the space and time to achieve it.
During the winter months of the global pandemic and lockdown I was able to channel my energy in challenging times through pole dancing. I am thankful and grateful that I discovered pole dancing, as it’s helped me so much more than I could have imagined. I would suggest and highly recommend pole dancing to everyone. It’s a sport, fitness, dance, and art form all in one. It’s humbling because everyone starts at square one. As I mentioned earlier there are no shortcuts and you have to put in the time and work. I would recommend this documentary on Netflix if you’re looking for further inspiration.
The Meaning Behind the ‘Touch Me’ Music Video
In the music video I represent a young woman and her daily routine. She wakes up to take a bath and masterbates using a “WaterSlyde” sex toy before she starts her day. While she masterbates in the tub she begins to daydream and the viewers are invited into her mind. The pole dancing sequence represents her dream and ultimately her orgasm. There is a climax and a wind down. The last scene brings you back to the same scene from the beginning. The alarm clock goes off and the young woman wakes up however this time she is in the same make-up and hair as the dream. The conclusion is that we are not certain anymore what is the dream and what is not or when the dream begins or ends. What we thought we knew now isn’t confirmed. There’s ambiguity and blurred lines of what is reality and fiction.
My Hope – Highlight Women’s Sexual Wellness
I wanted to bring to the forefront women’s sexual wellness. I hope my video helps spark conversations around women’s sexual wellness and to dismiss it as a topic that’s taboo. Can female orgasm ever be discussed in a way that’s as normal as your daily routine? It makes us question, do we orgasm enough? Should we be pleasuring ourselves as frequently as we brush our teeth or take a shower? Let’s talk about it!
My song title is called “Touch Me”, and while it’s assumed that the wish is for another person’s touch, it could also be about your own touch.

SHOP – Pole Dancing Attire
This might be hard to believe but their are specific clothes you should where when you are pole dancing. You can’t just wear anything! I actually found it a bit hard to find the right attire for pole dancing, because it’s not that common or as readily available as say yoga clothes. In the beginning I was wearing all sorts of random articles I could find in my closet. I even used just underwear when I was in the comfort of my own home alone.
If you’re going to the studio you are required to wear appropriate clothing aka (not your underwear), and also you want to be safe. Meaning the more skin you show and reveal the easier and safer it will be because you’ll have more grip. Sometimes I even used bikinis.
In general I think there is a lack of cute/affordable pole dancing clothing in the market today, and that well known and respected brands and retailers should offer options to this niche market. It’s definitely an opportunity to capitalize on as this sport becomes more mainstream! I would think it would be a win win for company’s and for consumers because frankly we are in desperate need. Why can’t Lululemon offer a pole dancing section?
I managed to research and find some options for pole dancing that are great. Check out Dollz Kill for all sorts of really cool/sexy pole dancing shoes and getups. They have a wide array of dance/club type clothing. The one thing is that the material sometimes isn’t the thickest and you feel like you might pop out…so be cautious. Pleaser shoes are my favorite. Patent leather will help you stick to the pole better, and an over the ankle boot will also aid in grip, and stability when you’re walking around the pole. I would say really good quality shoes.
Pole Active clothing is another brand you can check out for pole specific attire. They carry a lot of different brands so you can find the one that speaks to you.
Conclusion
If you’re interested in giving pole dancing a shot, I say go for it! Everyone starts at square one so don’t be intimidated. It’s a really, really fun physical activity. It makes working out fun, I mean you really don’t even realize your working out till one day you wake up and look at yourself in the mirror. I would for sure take a before and after picture because after a while you are sure to see results.
I documented my entire pole dancing fitness journey on my TikTok. I posted a video after almost every class to see my progress so you can see where I started and how I evolved. I posted on day 1 and on day 100+. My trainers encouraged this, and I’m so happy I did it. It’s really fun to look back and see how far I’ve come.
