Here’s a little bit about my new single “So Long New York” and my inspiration behind it.
Living in New York City has always been a dream of mine. I visited frequently when I was younger, and realized early on I was a city girl. Combined with being the fashion capital of the country I was convinced. After graduating college I moved there and loved every second of it. When the pandemic hit I couldn’t afford to pay my rent. I ended up having to move out and away from my beloved city and friends.
A couple months after leaving I visited NYC for work…commuting there this time. It was a cold December night, and I found myself in the middle of Time Square eating a slice of Joe’s pizza admiring the flashy billboards and surrounding lights. It’s not for everyone, but I realized I miss New York. That’s when the song “So Long New York” came to me.
It was a nostalgic moment when all my past memories came flooding to my brain, and I came up with what I feel to be a tribute to New York City. Like Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and The City once said “If Louis was right, and you only get one great love, New York may just be mine. And I can’t have nobody talking sh*t about my boyfriend.” I feel I’m now in a long distance relationship with my love, New York City. Oh, but I’ll be back again.
Thanks!
