SIX02 is a great retailer that has all the latest trending athleisure. I was able to find the majority of my items on their site.
Okay guys! These workout classes that I’m about to dive into are going to help you get back into shape and have fun doing it no matter what level of fitness you have. From my suggestions I’m sure you’ll be able to find a class that suits you! I am a big fan of living a healthy, balanced lifestyle and that includes working out. Ever since I stopped playing collegiate soccer I found it hard to have fun in the gym. It becomes challenging to push yourself to the limits when you don’t have a coach or trainer yelling in your ear. I wanted to explore the different workout classes NYC has to offer and let you know what makes them special.
The Dog Pound: I took a beginner group boxing class, and I loved it! Just by wearing boxing gloves, and stepping into the boxing arena I got an adrenaline rush, but there’s more to it! In a small intimate group you learn boxing form and technique. The class is high intensity, and you get a full body workout intermixing cardio, boxing moves and strength training exercises. I felt so bad-ass and was totally ready to punch someone at the end of it! The next day I was so sore, which in my opinion is the BEST. I ached in places I never had which confirmed the full body workout. The trainers push you and really motivate you to work hard. It was really the perfect AM class to start my day.
Current Fitness: This is one of my go-to workout classes. At Current Fitness Studio, you row to #MAKEWAVES, and get #WET, sexy right? (this class makes me feel that way). It’s not your typical rowing exercise, it’s rowing reinvented. I remember when I used to have to alternate using the rowing machine in high school and I thought it was such a bore. My mind is officially changed! This full body workout really focuses on engaging your core, raising your heart rate, and strengthening those arms (I can’t keep telling myself carrying grocery bags does the trick). If you like to party for a workout this is the class for you. Fun energetic music is playing, people are sweating, singing, and dancing on these rowing machines. They even have themed nights, for example Brittany Spears nights (the instructor actually dressed up like Brittany from Hit Me Baby One More Time!). Are you sold?
New York Pilates: I tried Pilates for the first time ever at New York Pilates Bowery location and really enjoyed myself. The space at Bowery studio is so gorgeous and big I could live there. It smells good, there’s a water station, exclusive merch collections you can browse through, giant cacti plants, bleachers of sorts for waiting, and the bathrooms have nice toiletries in them (always a plus). This is another full body workout but with a different energy. You are very in tune with your body movements and mindful of your actions. There are so many different movements and exercises you can do on a Pilates reformer. Pilates helps you focus and engage specific parts of your body for example lower abs, or triceps. I took a beginner course and learned all the important techniques, but I’m so ready for the next level!
ReZist: I am such a huge fan of this class. It’s held at several different gyms for your convenience. You can just drop-in you don’t have to belong to the gym, however it does fill up quickly so you have to request a spot ahead of time. This class is a very challenging workout, it will make you sweat a river without fail. It’s about 35mins and consists of 1 minutes exercises with 20 second rests, and the time sure flies by. The class combines upper and lower body movements giving you both cardio and muscular training with weights. Squats will become your best friend, and your butt will thank you later. I take this class at least once a week, and it never gets easier. That’s why I LOVE it!
Solidcore: I had a fun family workout at Solidcore. My sister was raving about the class so I had to try it. I was WORKED. My body was literally twitching during the class. Solidcore’s goal is to push you to muscle failure. You use a resistance-based machine and do slow controlled exercise movements to tone muscle and burn fat. It’s a hard, full-body session that will definitely get your body ready for bikini season, which is right around the corner. Better get twitching.
I hope you enjoyed my rundown of these workout classes, because I sit here writing as I’m hurting and so sore. I need to go to a stretch class and just foam roll for an hour.
I’m curious to know about your favorite workouts classes and why! Please feel free to share your recommendations and experiences.
