How did you choose your blog name?
Choosing my blog name took a lot of thought. I remember thinking about it for a few days. I was so new to the process that I looked up to my favorite bloggers as role models. I was inspired by one of my favorite bloggers at the time, Hayley Elfante’s the_salty_blonde. She is so carefree and cool the way she went about life and style and so I looked up to her Growing up my Dad was always infatuated with the moon, and in turn it rubbed off on me. He was a meteorologist and always pointed out the phases of moon in the night sky. The Lunar Phase refers to how the moon is perceived in different lights, and how it changes every night just as we change our outfits everyday and can be perceived differently depending on what we are wearing.
What do you want your readers to take away from your blog?
I want my readers to come to my blog to look for inspiration for fashion and lifestyle choices. Life is a cycle and we experience events and occasions to dress for year after year. My blog is my take on fashion today, and the trends and styles that I like to wear. I hope to provide suggestions for shopping, and insight into the fashion industry. I hope to provide current and relevant suggestions on stores, products, services, and experiences for my readers. My blog is a place where you can find inspiration for everyday looks, and outfits for every occasion. I hope to help my readers with their own fashion sense, and shopping choices.
Was it hard to start at first?
When I started I had no help from anyone, I had no idea where to start or how to be successful. I did however have the Instagram platform and a camera, and I knew that’s all I needed to get started. I learned step by step, day by day. I learned by experience, and researched a lot about what I was getting into. I have a lot of self discipline and motivation so I told myself I would try this out for a year, a year would give me enough time to try, and also give me enough time to realize it wasn’t for me. A year passed and I was totally immersed and passionate about what I was doing. I was full speed ahead and decided I would continue to work on my blog. I have myself another goal, and here I am still blogging still setting goals for myself. I am a very competitive person, so if I give myself a goal, I always try to achieve it for self satisfaction.
When/how did you realize blogging could become your job?
I put a lot of time and energy into my blog, and it shows through with my content. I started because I was passionate about what I was doing, and I continued working on my blog because I fell in love with my hobby. It is so much fun to blog, and I do it to feed my soul. When I started partnering with brands and companies I realized that this was more than just me. My collaborations with brands opened a lot of doors for me, and creating new relationships with other bloggers, and companies I soon realized that the world of influencer marketing is huge and still growing. I have so much fun doing what I am doing, I work on my blog after or before my full time 9-5 job. That is when I realized blogging could be a job, there are so many successful full time bloggers leading by example and I commemorate them. I am pretty sure that deep down we all do it because its our passion. We would do it for money or not. I didn’t start my blog for money, and as soon as I lose passion for it, that is when I will stop.
Do you ever hit points where you doubt what you’re doing?
I was learning every day, and didn’t really know what I was doing. It an entrepreneurial project to start your own fashion blog, but there are so many out there with the technology today I was able to read and learn a lot from the internet. I asked “google” a lot of questions. I didn’t doubt myself, I just kept going. I didn’t really have any expectations when I started so everything that went good was a huge surprise and celebration. Blogging has become a routine, and I naturally work on it because its just what I do. I quickly found out that its a learning experience and everyone went through the same steps I did that is successful now. I thought if they can do it, so can I. Sometimes I think if what I’m doing matters or if it will get any traction or what if it fails, but then I always remember that I’m doing it for myself and I started for me. I started blogging on my own terms so I am mostly proud of how far I’ve come, and if I fail, I just try again later with a new and improved strategy. I don’t get too down on myself for not hitting my goals. I try as hard as I can and if it doesn’t work out then I try again later and move on, because there are a million things that require my attention I can’t dwell on what doesn’t work out.
How do you describe your blog?
My blog is my perspective and opinion on trends and life experiences. I cater to young millennial readers, because I write about my life and my style. I hope to captivate readers that relate to me, and undergo similar life experiences. They want to provide inspiration for their lives. I think that my posts and style is not limited to young millennial readers. It is for everyone to enjoy and get insight on my taste. There’s a lot of ways you can interpret data so I am not concerned about excluding anyone.
How do you find time to balance your blog and personal life?
It is definitly a challange. Luckly I am the type to keep myself busy. So when I am not working my 9-5 full time job I try to make as much time as I can for my blog. I am organized and schedule my life up to the month. I pick a day of the week to blog, and know that I have to blog at least once a week, and I use that as a guideline. I schedule my photoshoots in advance, weeks ahead of time to make sure I can plan my content for the next month. Growing up I struggled with dividing my team between family, friends, boyfriends, working out, jobs and sports. I had to learn to manage and balance my life with all things I cared about. My family is very important to me, but the other things I valued too. From a young age I was forced to learn the ways of balance. I had even more trouble back then, now I feel a lot more prepared to handle it. Being on top of your schedule and organized has helped tremendously. Creating values, and priorities is key.
What do you strive for with your blog- What is your goal?
I strive to create new and exiting content for my readers. I want to help and inspire them with my vision and sense of style. Not everyone has the personality type or taste to pick out their own clothes or to know what to wear to do for date night. My goal is to be a location for my audience to turn to for interesting material. I hope to captivate my audience with my versatile style, they can turn to me for any occasion and mood.
What is your favorite part about blogging?
I love the self discovery of it all. I have learned so much about myself, and have grown by this experience. To look at where I have come, I have changed and gained a lot of confidence and courage. I have so much fun planning and creative content, the creative side is limitless in terms of imagination and I love exploring that side of things.
How do you keep organized and on top of everything?
I write things down. I have a schedule that I follow, and a lot of spread sheets. I have a calendar that keeps me on track.
