Here’s a little bit about my debut EP, “INFINITY”, and my inspiration behind it.
“INFINITY” is my debut EP, encompassing 6 of my previously released songs Memories, What?, Vulnerable, I’m Not Sorry, Dreams, and Touch Me.
Launched My Career
The focus track of my EP is the song “Memories”. This song was my debut single as an artist and launched my career in music. It’s a very special song to me, and is dedicated to my father who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheirmer’s when I was 16. Over the summer he contracted Covid-19 while at the nursing home, and I imagined the worst. I wasn’t sure he was going to make it. In response to the emotional experience and what I was going through I wrote a song about him. I was compelled to bring it to life in his honor. Luckily he beat the virus, and now I’m a full time musician.
EP Concept
The concept for my debut EP, “INFINITY”, is all about exploring my sound, and finding my voice. I want listeners to be able to go on a journey with me from when I first started to where I am now and to celebrate the progress! The creation and release of each song was purposeful and carefully thought out. Each song not only reflects my own life and what I was going through, but also the situation of society and present day. By listening to my EP listeners will get a deeper understanding of who I am, because I’ve written every word and melody. It’s truly an EP that comes from the heart.
My Inspiration
My inspiration was the idea of infinite potential. When I decided to become a full-time artist/musician I surprised myself at what I was able to accomplish. It doesn’t matter when in life you decide to go after your dreams, it’s never too late. I believe humans have infinite potential, and that as much as you put in as what you’ll get out. I’m a huge believer in the idea of “anyone can be anything if you believe in yourself and put in the work”. I was so influenced by the idea of “infinite potential” that I got a small infinity sign tattoo on my arm so that I could remind myself every day of my potential and what I’m capable of. It’s my own inspirational reminder.
My family and past experiences have also inspired my present day work and the “INFINITY” concept. My father was a meteorologist and physicist and worked for NASA doing research science stuff on satellites- I can’t really explain and do it justice. The moon and astronomy has always been a big part of my upbringing. Growing up we’d attend rocket, and space shuttle launches with my father. When he’d come home from work we’d all go outside and admire the moon if he deemed it beautiful that night. Any meteor shower or eclipse was a family event. During our road trips or long drives he’d always comment on the cloud formations in the sky.
Other Influences
The title of my debut EP also was influenced by my college experience. I was a math major in college, and I can’t tell you how many proofs I’d have to write on the chalkboard in front of classmates and professors. One of my favorite symbols to write was the “infinity” sign.
All in all, “INFINITY” ties a lot of these messages, inspirations, and influences together in a way that is very meaningful to me. I couldn’t think of a better title for my first debut EP.
You’ll notice in my songs I reference galaxy, stars, my father, and other lyrics. Don’t be surprised if you hear the lyrics “full moon” soon in one of my future songs (wink, wink teaser alert).
Album Artwork
For my cover and photoshoot I wanted to incorporate surrealism. I’m a big fan of Salvador Dali and the way he incorporates reality with fictitious imagery. Also, my mom is a fine art artist and would paint paintings using surrealism. It’s no surprise I like sci-fi but I wanted to be like an astronaut in space, but instead of an astronaut I’m an alien of sorts- out of this world. I’m my own heroine with magical elements to emphasize infinite potential yet again. I can’t wait to show you what’s next. I have a lot of exciting projects in the works!
