Looking for fun things to do in New York City? I highly recommend going on a Pizza Tour! I heard about Scott’s Pizza Tours through a few friends and only heard good things. One of my friends has been 9 times! So I knew it was worth a try.
My boyfriend is a huge fan of pizza and says that he likes all of them. I joke that he could love a pizza slice that was in the trash. I challenged him to be more of a pizza snob, so we went on this tour with a couple friends to get a little analytical.
It’s the perfect weekend activity to do when someone comes to visit, or perhaps a special occasion. I even heard there was a proposal on one of the bus tours, and one of the tour guides helped spell “will you marry me” out of pepperonis!
I’m sure you already know this, but pizza is a BIG deal in New York. I personally didn’t realize how different each slice or pizza place could really be! It’s not until you go on a pizza tour that you realize there is a huge difference. So many things can vary such as cheese, oven, crust, flour, baking time, shapes, flavors and more!
Brunetti’s Neopolitan Pizza
Like I said before, I didn’t really understand the difference of pizza, but now I see how vastly different each type can be. We first went to Brunetti’s to try the first type of pizza ever made-Neapolitan style, which was my favorite of all the places we visited! It’s a sit down restaurant so I opted to get a beer. It was a personal size pie, super light and fluffy with fresh mozzarella and basil. They actually import their flour from Italy and have a custom-made brick oven which cooked our personal size pie’s in less than 3 minutes (we timed it)! SO fast!
Joe’s NYC Pizza
Next, we tried the classic New York Style pizza from Joe’s and went to the original location in Greenwich village. It’s an in and out slice shop, and you can find celebrity pictures on the walls, mine’s TBD. They used low-sodium mozzarella (which means it can bake longer), and the pizza slice was huge! The flour is a bit tougher, but still delicious and the cheese is spread out evenly, I think they use shredded cheese to get that evenness.
Fiore’s Staten Island Pizza
Lastly, we went to Fiore’s which is Staten Island style pizza. The sauce is sweeter- we think they add sugar! The pizza has circular shaped pieces of cheese on it, and it’s well known for its thin crust and disk shapes pepperonis. Fiore’s also has a rotating oven so the pizza is cooked more evenly. All places were delicious, but I was pretty full by the end of the tour so I couldn’t finish my last slice.
Overall, I loved Scott’s Pizza Tour! We went to 3 places and the pizza walking tour takes roughly 2 ½ hours. It was nice to be able to walk from place to place, the perks being we could digest a little in between. I know there’s so many more types of pizza to try. Scott’s Pizza Tour also offers bus tours, so I think I’ll try that next!
Outfit Recap
My outfit is one of my favorite looks I wore this past summer. It’s funny because my boyfriend said that my bright pink heels are so me, and I couldn’t agree more! If you’re going to do the walking tour I suggest wearing comfortable shoes, although you won’t be walking too much!
Lately I’ve been loving puffy sleeves, and I don’t think the silhouette/trend is going anywhere. This fashion week I saw a lot of puffy sleeves down the runway and in street-style.
My top is from For Love and Lemons, who I’m a huge fan of! I’ve been following them ever since they started as a small lingerie brand and now they do apparel and are sold everywhere! I love the extreme feminine accents and their styles are so flattering on me. I also feel like they are bold, sexy and feminine at the same time which I kind of relate to.
Ettika is one of my new favorite jewelry brand obsessions. They are sold at Nordstrom and they really hit the nail on the head with trendy fashion styles I like. Any fashion trend out there, Ettika is quick to offer up something super cute. They are from L.A. so it’s no wonder I love them. For some reason I always gravitate to L.A. brands. Should I just move there?!
Hope you enjoyed my outfit re-cap, and my post about fun things to do in NYC! Like I said before, Scott’s Pizza Tour all the way! Let me know if you end up going, and what kind of pizza is your favorite. I’m now a total pizza fan, although I think at some point I’m going to give up cheese, for now I’ll embrace it!
