In terms of personal maintenance and care, hair is usually the last thing people think about. As a result it’s often neglected and not taken care of. Hair is just as important as taking care of your skin and has similar side effects when you don’t treat it properly. It get’s dried out, sun and heat damage, brittle and week, split ends- the list goes on of all the potential hair problems. The secret to healthy hair is to make sure you use the rights products with high quality ingredients. I’m so excited to share with you my favorite Amika Salon products and tips and tricks to taking care of your hair.
I haven’t always been a saint about caring for my hair. I was a lifeguard throughout the summers of my youth and killed my hair with chlorine, and sun exposure. I also always blow dried my hair without using heat protector. The problem was that I didn’t know, so you can’t blame me. As the saying goes, you don’t know what you don’t know.
Now I’ve had a lot of exposure to salon treatment and reviewed tons of products so I can testify that results show after taking care of my hair. I make sure to treat my hair properly so that it can recover. When I go to salon’s I always talk to the specialists about products and hair care, because they are experts and very knowledgable. You have to take advantage of your resources. Using the right products will do wonders for your hair, and now I’m totally addicted to treating it right. Check out my favorite Amika products below and also read along for tips and tricks to taking care of your hair.
#1 Perk Up Dry Shampoo
Dry Shampoo has become my best friend. In general, the rule of thumb is that you should not wash your hair everyday because it will dry your scalp of it’s natural oils. Let me tell you their is nothing wrong with going days without washing your hair, in fact it’s better for it! I understand a lot of people tell me their hair get’s too greasy. My advice is to try dry shampoo. Some people are scared of using dry shampoo because they think it will clog their pours. It’s all about using the right products that use high quality ingredients. I think the longest I’ve gone without washing my hair was one week. People will often compliment me too! They’ll be like your hair looks great what did you do, and I’ll be like that’s funny I haven’t washed it in days! I just stray on my roots and rub it in all over. Try it and let me know what you think!
#2 Amika Hair Mask
I use this hair mask regularly in the shower on my roots. You don’t have to leave it on for long it’s like 3 minutes. I sometimes use it in addition to conditioner. It’s really important to use a hair mask at least once a week. My hair is particularly damaged from sun exposure, chlorine, and hair color so I use it regularly. The mask helps hydrate and repair your hair to it’s natural vibrancy.
#3 The Immortal Power-Life Dryer
I hate washing my hair in the winter because I don’t like to have wet hair. I feel like I’m going to get sick and I hate being cold. It also usually takes forever to dry my hair, up until I started using the Immortal Power-Life dryer, which takes less than 5 mins to dry my hair completely, (I’ve timed it). This hair dryer has completely changed my life, and saves me so much time!
#4 Bombshell Blowout Spray
It’s important to always use a heat protector when blow drying your hair. I love the Bombshell blowout product because it protects and volumizes at the same time. It helps add body and texture without leaving your hair stiff or crunchy. I spray all over towel dried wet hair.
#5 Bust Your Brass Shampoo & Conditioner
For all the blondes and balayage brunettes out there this shampoo & conditioner duo is perfect for keeping your color fresh. It’s violet pigmented to zap the brass out of your hair to keep it light, cool, and smooth.
