If you are looking for your next date night idea how about you toss dinner and a movie out the window and go for a something a little more creative. Try a night at the museum for an experience you’ll never forget! I recently went to Amari at the Met, the new cocktail experience at the Great Hall Balcony Bar, and I’ll tell you there’s nothing quite like it.
I was meeting my ex in NYC for the first time after 5 years of not seeing or speaking to each other. Keep in mind prior to that, we dated on and off for 6 years so it was a pretty monumental moment. We decided to meet at the Top of The Rock as if meeting in the first place wasn’t monumental enough.
There’s definitely something special about meeting at such an iconic landmark. We were 70 floors high overlooking NYC’s spectacular skyline. It was nothing short of breathtaking, and in my opinion the best view of the city. The experienced also served as a friendly reminder to not take the city for granted, despite having lived here for 3 plus years now. Perhaps a metaphor for relationships too.
After we wandered through the various observatory decks we decided we were ready for the next phase of the night. We headed to the Upper East Side to explore The Met during the extended late night hours, but not before stopping by the Amari Bar for some much needed tapas and cocktails.
The Amari Bar is open to anyone who has purchased museum tickets! It has waiter service and offers cocktails, small plates and a live music! It creates such a romantic atmosphere, which is why it’s the perfect place for date night!
We caught up over Negroni and Manhattan flights and connected over shared plates that we picked from a Mediterranean themed menu. For dessert we had chocolate covered strawberries and a fruity cocktail to complement. I mean, when was the last time you ordered chocolate covered strawberries! It was a real treat, not to mention I’m low key obsessed with them.
We couldn’t help but notice the other couples around us ranging in all ages which also seemed to be having a date night. The atmosphere was so charming and energetic! The live orchestra performance was exceptional too!
After, we let ourselves get lost in the museum halls a bit tipsy which allowed our imaginations to run wild! Roaming the sections of the museums without a care in the world the art was more inspiring than I remember it being before!
The Amari at The Met was such a fun place to have a date! It also doesn’t break the bank, but guarantees great service and entertainment. It offers great food, delicious cocktails, live music, and a fun activity all in one! I think that merits being one for the best date night spots in NYC!
Let me know if you decide to go there for a date night! And remember date night could be with a friend, a significant other, a family member, or whoever! It’s a time that you set aside to do something special! After all, what’s life worth living for if not to create memories!
