If you get a chance to visit D.C. you should definitely check out the Kimpton Rouge, a super cute boutique hotel located in the heart of the city. Known for its high-fashion, and glam aesthetic. It’s a place to embrace your glam side with animal print robes, and bold design details that will be sure to spice up your experience. It’s a sophisticated alternative to the traditional Washington D.C. hotels in the area.
I’m originally from the suburbs of D.C., but even so, I can’t say that I know the city like the back of my hand. Growing up we would take weekend trips to visit museums or go out to dinner on special occasions.
Now I live in NYC, but when I go home to visit my parents I’m even more interested in visiting D.C. because honestly, I’ve come to appreciate it even more now that I’m older. It’s a gorgeous city, with a lot of character, amazing restaurants to try, cute cafes and fun activities that will entertain.
Most of the museums are free! You can really spend a whole weekend learning and exploring the historical monuments! The food is delicious too! Some of my favorite restaurants include Le Diplomate, Old Ebbitt Grill, Rasika, and Dirty Habit to name a few.
D.C. is pretty and fun all year round! Over the winter holidays you can visit the National Christmas Tree, in the spring you can enjoy the Cherry Blossom’s, and during the summers they have Jazz in the Garden! Also, the fireworks over the Lincoln Memorial during the 4th of July are breathtaking, if you can secure yourself a parking spot! In the fall, there’s nothing better than to walk down the Lincoln Memorial’s Reflecting Pool and admire the fall foliage and colorful fallen leaves floating all over. Truly a haven for photographers, and tourists alike. There’s so much to see!
Kimpton Rouge hotel is a perfect home base to explore all that D.C. has to offer! In addition to being a tourist of D.C. the Rouge is perfect for a staycation. Perfectly suited to have a romantic getaway with yourself or a partner! Fill the tub with rose petals and have a bottle of wine to complement and you’re all set! Or maybe sleep in and catch up on your favorite magazine while slowly sipping a warm cup of coffee. It’s the small things that make or break an experience am I right?!
The Kimpton has a delicious bar located on the first floor that serves up fancy, creative cocktails to your tasting. I had a blast trying out the cocktails from their constantly rotating menu. They are pretty Instagrammable if I say so myself, and the perfect spot to start your night.
The Kimpton Hotel is conveniently located on 16th Street between Rhode Island Avenue and O Street. Three blocks from Dupont Circle Metro Station, five blocks from Farragut North Metro Station, and three miles from Union Station. It’s a 15-minute cab ride from Reagan National Airport, and 40 minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport.
Ideally located on Embassy Row in downtown D.C., Rouge is located just five blocks from the White House, less than one mile from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, three blocks from Dupont Circle, and within walking distance to the trendy 14th Street and U Street Corridors. So you can catch a cab or feel free to walk to your destination because you’re pretty much in the center of it all!
If you’re ever in the area let me know what you think! I’m always open to hearing new recommendations!
