This year for my 27th birthday I wanted to do something special…well every year I want to do something special, so really this year is no different. Point being is that there are so many things to do in NYC that it can be overwhelming to plan a birthday celebration. I’d like to share with you all my experience at The Seville, and give you a few more suggestions on where to celebrate your birthday in NYC.
I discovered The Seville once during a networking event through HER. I met up with a bunch of powerhouse women for cocktails. I felt like it was a hidden gem underneath the James Hotel. A very classy cocktail bar with live music was just the ticket, I thought, for my birthday.
I had about 10 girls and we had a table reservation right in front of the live music for the night. We took over a bunch of couches and made ourselves at home. The kind waitress took all our jackets and extra belongings that we didn’t need so we were free to get up, mingle, and dance to the music.
We ordered around 8-10 shared plates, tapas style, to munch on while our waitress scooped us delicious cocktails from a disco ball. My favorites were the marinated octopus, and ahi tuna & avocado tostada! Check out the menu here to see for yourself! I think there’s something for everyone, and I had vegetarians, pescatarians, and omnivores alike! The live music was on point, everything from the Fugee’s cover songs to singing me happy birthday! A very special chant, “Go Marilyn, go Marilyn, go Marilyn!” was sung and I was surprisingly serenaded by the man playing the saxophone!
At The Seville you can expect live music Mon-Fri from 6-9:30pm, and then a DJ Tues-Sat starting at 10pm. We got there with enough time to enjoy the live music but our night rolled over into the DJ’s set, which funny enough the DJ for the night was my friend DJ DSTAR! It was definitely a night to remember. I would definitely come back, and recommend this spot to host your next party in the books!
For the event I used Rent the Runway’s unlimited subscription and ordered a lace jumpsuit by Alexis. I wore Stuart Weitzman black sandals and a faux fur coat to top it off.
Some other restaurant recommendations for birthday fun include the following: Cafe Medi, Baar Baar, Bar SixtyFive, Royal Palms, and Radegast Hall. Everything from German beer gardens, and shuffleboard to restaurants with the best views of the city! I’ve got you covered with my favorite spots to celebrate!
