Amid all the noise, and all the options you probably have no idea where to shop for the best workout clothes for women. That’s where I come in. I’ve been active my whole life, and have transitioned from playing collegiate soccer, exploring the latest NYC Fitness Studio’s, training for the NYC marathon, to at-home workouts while quarantined.
From my experience wearing a plethora of workout clothes and working out in them I’m here to share my favorite places to shop for the best workout clothes for women. I’ll include my favorite brands and retailers, but sometimes they go hand in hand.
The following are my favorite places to shop for workout clothes for women because I genuinely love their workout clothes. They come in all shapes and forms, and I like them for different reasons. Some for their trendy, fun prints, fits and silhouettes, and other’s for their functionality, technology, and fabrics. Let’s get to it!
Bandier: Bandier is somewhat of a high-end women’s athleisure retailer housing some of my favorite brands. They carry luxury brands, but are known for having superior quality, and styles. They are just so darn cute all the time! You will be sure to find something you like at Bandier and although it’s a bit on the pricey side it will last, because the quality is top notch. I’ve been wearing and washing my pieces over and over again. Some of my favorite brands to look out for are We Over Me, All Access, Year Of Ours, and P.E. Nation.
Footlocker: Lady Footlocker surprisingly has great trendy women’s workout apparel. I used to shop there a lot when I was in middle school for large solid t-shirts, and I thought it was more “sporty” and “masculine”. BUT, they carry a lot of really cute brands like Kendall & Kylie, Fenty Puma, and Ivy Park! Also, they have a wide array of sneakers for all you sneaker heads. I’m in love with my Kendall & Kylie leopard set, and Nike snake print set from Footlocker! Super comfortable and trendy!
Champs: They have all your favorite sportswear brands like Nike, Champion, FILA, Converse, etc. I love the colorful options, but if you’re looking to buy your classic White Air Force sneakers definitely shop here. They have a lot of options, and inventory.
Lululemon: I don’t need to sell you on Lululemon, their leggings are a staple in everyone’s closet, but what you don’t know is that they also make outerwear! I recently got a long puffer jacket that I wore all winter, like a sleeping bag! I’m not sure how long it’s been since you bought a pair of Lulu’s but just in case it’s been a minute you need to buy a new pair because their fabrics have gotten wayyy better. I recently compared a 2014 pair with a 2020 and they are light years different in a good way…yes, my leggings have lasted me years and that’s saying something.
Under Armour: I wore Under Armour for my Marathon. I go to Under Armour for technology, and functionality. To me they are a go-to for my neutrals or if I’m looking for something more durable for more aggressive workouts i.e. marathon training.
Athleta: They are a great affordable brand, that has fits, and styles similar to Lululemon but at a cheaper price. I love that they have pockets on their leggings, and offer extended sizes. They don’t sacrifice features in order to meet a certain price point, which I really appreciate.
Alo Yoga: Great brand for gear tailored to yoga workouts, and they’re super comfortable. I also have a pair that is great to wear from workout to brunch. Alo Yoga is so much more than just workout gear, it’s athleisure and you can really wear their stuff all day.
Free People Movement: I didn’t realize Free People made workout clothes till recently. I have the softest pair of leggings. After a workout sometimes I sit in them all day. I have to admit, I’m wearing them as we speak. They are the same leggings as my Instagram picture featured below in the round-up. Take a look!
I hope you enjoyed my recommendations on where to shop for the best workout clothes for women! These are my favorite places to find what you need. Depending on whether you are looking for cute, affordable, technical, quality, etc. there is an option for you!
