Cleaning out your closet has never been easier. ThredUP allows you to donate and re-sell your used or unused clothes! It’s life changing. I tried it for the first time and I’m now making money on their site! It’s such an easy way to make money!
So it all started when I realized my closet was a huge mess and I had way too many clothes. I called my sister up and asked if she wanted any of my clothes so we video chatted and I showed her all my stuff one by one that I wanted to give away. I made her a little box and sent it her way.
But, I still had a bunch of leftover unwanted clothes. Now, I live in NYC, so basically I have a little bit of an issue when it comes to cleaning out my closet. Back in D.C. I would bag up my clothes and drive my bags to a local charity drop off. Well in NYC, I don’t have a car and I most definitely can’t haul multiple heavy bags around NYC. Not to mention who has the time? But then I remembered that I read about a company once…ThredUP.
I didn’t realize I would love ThredUP as much as I do now when I first signed up. Basically they’re a re-sale online platform, but they help you donate your clothes and/or sell them. So I log-in, and created a username. I ordered myself 4 “clean-out kits”, which basically are 4 large branded sturdy bags that come in the mail that have prepaid shipping labels on them and close securely after you finish filling them up.
I filled up a few of the bags, and left them outside my door. From the ThredUP website I scheduled a UPS pick-up and my bags where picked up and gone the next day. So I didn’t have huge filled bags hanging around my tiny apartment. I was amazed by the ease.
In the next few weeks I received a confirmation email that my bags had been received and were being processed. Next, they told me which items they would keep for the store, and the rest I opted for them to donate on my behalf.
I randomly got an email one day that my item had been sold and I had made commission off of it! The item had been professional cleaned and photographed for their site. I was amazed how easy it was to make money! I thought… I could have a side hustle with ThredUP!
ThredUP helped me donate my clothes, but I never thought that I would actually be selling my clothes on their site! The one down side is that it took about 2-3 weeks to receive my clean-out kits, which is a little longer than I’m used to. If ThredUP can manage to deliver those clean-out kits sooner then I’ll be a happier camper! Sometimes I decide to clean out my closet and I want the clothes out of my apartment as fast as possible. I don’t want to look at the clutter!
So I’m obviously a huge fan of ThredUP, so if you’re in need of a seasonal closet clean out I suggest ordering your clean-out kits now and save them for when you need them! ThredUP has been my closet clean-out savor. They are especially handy if you live in a city or don’t have a car!
Outfit Recap
I’m wearing a Cynthia Rowely lightweight wrap dress that I’m obsessed with. It feels silky smooth. I wore this dress to work, dinner and out to brunch! It’s a bit long on me so I had to pair it with some wedges, but keep in mind I’m 5’3″, some consider me a petite girl. Watch out if it’s a windy day because the slit might blow open if you’re out and about. Not sure if you’re into that! Otherwise the leg opening is a sexy touch.
