Weddings are always so magical and for the most part always a good time. It’s a time to celebrate LOVE! Who doesn’t like to mingle with friends, eat delicious food and drink bottomless martinis. You know there will be pictures snapped, and so you’re probably freaking out about what you’re going to wear if you’re going as a guest or plus one. Read on for my suggestions.
I love to use Rent The Runway to rent outfits for special occasions. You can always buy the item off RTR if you end up loving it so you can re-use that dress over and over again for years to come.
For the most part Rent The Runway carries on-trend, new pieces that are relevant. I would suggest wearing a color or print to a wedding so that you stand out! But you can always resort to black and keep it safe. Rent the Runway allows you to rent 4 pieces in their Unlimited Membership subscription so you can have options.
Recently I’ve been loving exaggerated sleeves, and ruffle details on dresses. Jonathan Simkhai is a designer who makes beautiful dresses perfect for a wedding guest occasion. I’m wearing this mustard yellow, one shoulder, asymmetrical dress with a flounce hem and I think it’s perfect to wear as a guest to a wedding.
I’ve paired it with black chunky military boots because I like to mix feminine aesthetic with rock/punk. I love the feminine rocker chic vibes but that’s just me! You can be a bit more traditional and pair it back with nude pumps that you probably already have in your closet.
If you don’t I’ve linked a few options below ranging in different price points. Steve Madden, or Sam Edelman are a good mid-range brand that offers classic nude pump styles.
In the fall it gets a bit chilly at night so I would suggest pairing your dress with a leather jacket, or faux fur coat or shawl to keep you warm. In terms of your purse keep it simple with a clutch or small cross-body. The purse should be a delicate touch, and you can go statement on the jewelry whether that be a big ring, cuff or statement earrings.
Undergarments
I’m actually not wearing a bra, because this dress kind of squishes them in so they are pretty frozen in place, but if you prefer to wear a bra then I love the Calvin Klein strapless push-up bra, and if you have bigger boobs then I suggest the Wacoal strapless bra. I used to work in retail as the lingerie department manager at Nordstrom, so you can trust me on this.
For underwear definitely wear a seamless thong so you don’t see any seams. I love the Commando Microfiber Seamless thong in nude. Nude always cover your bases no matter what color dress you’re wearing.
Make-up
For make-up I went with a golden shimmery feel to complement the yellow dress. I used one of my favorite highlighters from Becca cosmetics, and Clove + Hallow’s clean beauty lip glaze, and their Sunrise palette.
